Passionate,Emotional,Crazy Slo-mo Fans!

Thanks to Stanley Sayres For
Putting us on Boat-Racing Map

Now that The Seafair Trophy Race is over, we should all give thanks
to Stanley Sayres who brought hydroplane racing to Seattle in a big way.

Not only does it bring pleasue and excitement to the entire population: it
also helps fill the pockets of many Seattleites. Perhaps it will also help
put Seattle on the map.

Originally, we lived in this state. But a few years ago, we lived in Wisconsin
When people there asked where we were from and we told them Seattle, The
sock reply was: "Oh,you're from Oregon."

If we told them we were from Washington, the reply invariably was: "I hear
the cherry blossoms are beautiful there"

If someone did realize that there was a Seattle in the state of Washington,
they thought it was located either on he ocean or inland. Who ever heard
of Puget Sound?

At least Mr. Sayres has shown Detroit where Seattle is.

Slomo IV, "the Old Lady" still has the affections of Seattle. We love our
other boats, too, but none quite takes the place of Slo-mo in our hearts.
She definitely has a personality and at times seems almost human. I distinctly
saw her grin when she won; and how sad she looked because she coughed
and lost first place in the last heat.

Here's hoping Mr. Sayres doesn't retire her or sell her so that her name is
changed. Many more successful years of racing to you, Mr. Sayres.

And thanks a million!
