| Congratulations to Russ Wicks on
breaking Ron Dubys water speed record that has
stood since 1962. With an average of a little
over 205mph for the two runs he did the job he
set out to do...break the long standing record.
Ken Muscatel the boats owner and his energized
crew & crew chief Roger Newton did a
tremendous job geting the boat ready. I want
to say I had a great time. All the people from FreeInternet
who sponsored the boat along with ClassMates.com
were there to urge the team on, all the media
people who came back for the second day, and all
those hydroplane fanatics ( you gotta be crazy to
be there at 6:30 am) who stayed to the very end
and soaked up all the joy of being a big time
winner.
A couple of personal notes: To Joe Wicks,
Russ's dad I truely enjoyed the conversation,
about the early car racing stories and info on
Playland on Aurora Ave. where Anchor got the
engine cover for Slo-mo IV. To Charlie Farmer at
ClassMates.com, Yeah this sure beats the hell out
of Geology! And to Rick Thompson the webmaster
for the Hydroplane Museum for making all those
Buttons and giving them FREE to the fans...very
excellent.
Overall it was truely a fun day and all of us
at Jensen Motor Boat join Anchor Jensen in saying
congratulations, he knows the meaning of victory
and knows you will treasure it the rest of life.
